requires active use of power to force matter to condense/expand, will revert when too far away

bigger things require more energy and thus time/focus to condense/expand but reverting it to regular state is practically instant
the matter itself doesn't change, it's just compressed by a field that's forces the matter together/apart
the temp of the matter also changes accordingly
potential uses
condense air into solid air crystal, creates a tiny bit of suction due to less local air pressure
condense air into small pellets that can be carried in utility belt pouches and then thrown and released to create sudden forceful shockwave, shatter glass, etc
could get through locked doors by expanding the lock into a liquid and letting melted lock just melt down door before releasing and letting the lock solidify
dig holes quickly easily by condensing floor material into very dense ball to sink into floor and releasing it
good if time to prepare environment
can make trenches, fuck up the ground, etc
can litter air pellets everywhere and release them as traps when enemy is nearby
if have enough resources and time could condense a bunch of steel/metal/something into super-dense strong wall or something
